Within the first hours of the arrival of the newborn child, parents embark on capturing photos, to trace the changes taking place and to keep a record of those never-returning, valuable days. Although, generally speaking, the newborn photographer would always try to take photographs that convey the sweetness and the innocence of the newborn child, considering the fact that some specific moments need specific photos. Here are some suggestions for parents, in order to seize such precious moments, as skillfully as a professional newborn photographer.
Close-ups: The photographer should go for close-up shots, capturing the newborn’s tiny fingers and amazed small eyes. One of the special moments to be captured is that of the newborn held in one hand. A parent/photographer can also shoot a close-up of the newborn’s small feet, which pictures how small the baby is.
Mother’s Love: It is preferred that the newborn photographer captures the essence of the relationship and love between the newborn and the parents. Photos showing the maternal love are the most treasured of all newborn photos. Although, different from the maternity photos, these photos would still portray the relationship between a mom and her newly-arrived baby. For such photos, it is suggested that the photographer use black and white tone, as they would add to the picture, the simplicity and the depth of such bond. Another significant moment to capture is the mother’s first look at her child in the hospital. The mood of this photo would last forever, to keep the memory clinging in the parent’s mind with all the special details attached.
Sleeping Child: The photographer will not face any troubles taking such photos, for normally, the newborn child will not be doing anything more often than sleeping. Sleeping is the more persistent activity and the newborn most of the times sleeps. Since the newborn is in his sweet world, which consequently means that the photographer would be granted a golden chance to take a serene picture, of that dreamy mood.
Sibling Photo: The siblings and the newborn in one photo, bringing together the family’s children, is the photo that lasts forever to tell a story. This kind of photo is the one that the parents keep getting out of their closet to take a look at them almost every day. The elder child kissing the newborn is one delightful moment, (resting him on the elder sibling’s lap is another) which the photographer cannot miss.
Some of the do’s and don’ts are one must avoid using flash for the new born babies, stick to softer lights, preferably natural light. Get creative with backdrops and props to get fabulous newborn photos.
