Speech & Dictation Transcription

Speech transcription is not rocket science but with a few simple tips, you can do a better job than the rest. Dictation Transcription is not just about typing in speed. It needs a few other skills as well. To be a good transcriptionist, you should have excellent listening, typing and spelling skills. You have to have complete knowledge of proper spacing and punctuation to ensure you capture the inflection in the spoken word perfectly. In this article, we will show you how to write an accurate transcription of a speech.

Once you have obtained the audio recording of the speech, listen to the tape and taking note of places where the speech is unclear or word usage, unfamiliar. Adjust the sound on the recording to a comfortable level. For unfamiliar words, use a dictionary. Use context clues in the speech to be sure you are using the right word for words that sound the same, but spelled differently.

When you have completed speech transcription, review it for spelling, punctuation and spacing errors.
