Focus Group Transcription

Transcribing audio recordings of group discussions is termed as focus group transcription. The topics discussed are varied and can be anything from assessing candidates for recruitment to training students or candidates. Companies conducting group discussion are non-profit organizations, teleconference groups, universities for their academic research and companies providing market consultancy.

Transcription is important for these discussions because it enables the company to transcribe the audio recording into notes for taking inferences and analysis post-discussion.

In order to transcribe a focus group perfectly, you need an audio recording of high quality. This is important because the discussion involves many individuals who may talk simultaneously at times. The agenda of the group discussion should be shared with the transcriber in advance. This helps to deliver quality transcripts.

The audio files for group discussion are recorded in formats like MP3, WAV, WMA, MP4, Mpeg. The file is then uploaded on to a file server and emailed to the transcriber and he will then convert MP3 to text.
