Digital Transcription

For digital transcription, you have to set up a series of applications, in order to operate it smoothly.

The first thing to do is choose a dictation system. Stop-Start dictation systems are ideal for digital transcription services.

The next thing you need is a good audio player. One smart choice would be the Express Scribe, which is a high-quality audio player and comes free.

Lastly, you need a word processing program, which will help the transcriber to complete the digital transcription of your audio files.

You should first install the Start-Stop digital hands-free dictation system onto your computer, then insert installation CD, and allow it to load on screen.

Choose the recommended installation and select "Next." Continue to click "Next," until prompted to connect microphone and foot pedal.

Now connect the microphone and foot pedal to your computer. The computer will test the microphone to ensure it is working properly. Once you have finished select "Next." The next screen to load will test the foot pedal. All you will do is press the pedals to start and stop. After you have completed this test, select "Finish."

Finally comes the word processing program on the transcriber's computer. Choose from Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, or Adobe Acrobat depending on the program of your choice.
