Baby photography

Babies are the tiny, pretty people who are not just tender and fragile; they are the center of attraction, even when they are silent and sleepy. Usually pink and wrinkled, these tiny people are a perfect subject for photography; however, capturing shots of these tiny tots isn’t as easily done as said!

If you plan for baby photography, make sure that you do your home work well before you begin.

Making clever use of props:

To capture some moments with babies, it is important that you have enough props, not just to accompany the subject in the picture, but also to keep the child happy during the shoot. A rattle, an umbrella, a favorite toy and a feeder bottle can be used as props. If you feel the baby isn’t much interested in photography, or is becoming irritable, make the baby feel comfortable with such props.

Keeping the baby in a comfort zone:

Though it isn’t as easy as it seems, try arranging for the shoot at the place the baby is already accustomed to. His family, crib and belongings will keep him comfortable during the shoot, while taking him out can all of a sudden blow a distressing snivel. It is recommended that the baby is kept comfortable in order to ensure speedy and cheerful photo shoot session.

Capture the nuances:

Toes, finger nails and ears of a baby grow at a fast speed, so not capturing them well in time might be a pitfall in baby photography. Before we even realize, the tiny toes are all set to slip into the skate boards and ballet shoes. Tiny parts look cute and affectionate. Let the mother cuddle the baby, you might get some tender shots as the baby tries to touch the mother’s cheeks. Focus on the touch as it will portray the emotion well in the picture.

Keep ample time slot for the baby:

Presume that the shoot is going to take much longer than it takes for a grown up. Consider the feeding time, small naps in between, diaper changing and personal time that the baby might demand with his parents. It is recommended that you confirm the time schedule of the baby and plan your photo shoot according to the timings of the baby.

Keep up the good feel and atmosphere:

It is important that the baby is in good mood during the shoot. Ensure suitable lighting, soothing music or whatever keeps the baby happy, so as to be able to capture the right mood and the emotion at the right time.

Child photography is generally not chosen by many seasoned photographers as it takes a lot of effort, concentration, retries and a peculiar art to attract the babies. Make sure you are ready for a tiresome session as babies aren’t as easy to tackle because they don’t take your commands.
