Medical Scooters

Living with a physical disability to move around, is not easy. You have to constantly make an effort to limit your social outings or maybe depend on someone else, that is pretty annoying and disturbing.

However, there is no reason to sit and feel you are caged into immobility. Today many companies have come up with solutions for limited mobility. One of their best products is the medical scooters, that is driven by electricity. Medical portable scooters are available in various types but there are four basic categories - 3 wheelers, 4 wheelers, heavy duty and fold ups.

If you are not aware of the differences of the categories mentioned above, read the notes below on each type of medical scooter.

Three Wheel Medical Electric Scooters –

The three-wheeled medical scooter is the popular type. A tight turning capacity, comfort, and comfortable seating characterize the three-wheeled variety. The parts can be separated; hence, they can be transported easily. The weight capacity of this type of medical scooter is 250 to 300 IBS. The scooter can travel upto six miles in an hour and about twenty miles on a single charge.

Four Wheel Medical Electric Scooters –

The four-wheeled medical lynx scooter is the most affordable of all types of medical scooters. All the pieces are detachable; hence, the scooter is easily transportable. However, the parts are slightly heavier than the ones of the three-wheeled scooter. The weight capacity for this medical scooter is between 200 and 400 IBS. Some four-wheelers can be used both indoors and outdoors. The top speed per hour for the four wheel variety is not more than five miles per hour.

Heavy Duty handicap Scooters

If you are planning to go on long tours, you should buy the heavy-duty medical scooter. This heavy-duty model is designed to adapt itself to any kind of terrain. This is an out and out outdoor medical scooter. It is important to note while buying, that you cannot separate the parts of a heavy-duty medical scooter and transport them like the other medical scooter models. However, they are obviously faster than the other models and they can cover upto ten miles per hour and can travel around 25 miles on a single charge. They can hold more weight than the average medical scooter at a capacity between 325 and 500 IBS.

Fold Up Medical Electric Scooters –

You can use the fold up medical scooter model when you are planning to stay out for shopping etc. The top speed of this model is four miles per hour, not the best really, but this is the most light weight model. You can fold it up when out all day for shopping or similar activities. A fold up is not meant for daily or regular use, and need a recharge after covering eight miles

It is not easy to live a normal life with limited mobility problems. However, the medical electric scooters will make life easier for the ones battling free movement hurdles everyday. It is recommended that you do some good research on your needs, budget and newly launched models of medical scooters, if any, before buying the scooter.
