The Anytime, Anywhere Scooter

Tired of relying on other people to take you shopping or conveying you to the nearest park when you get tired of being housebound, you are not alone. For disabled persons or people with limited mobility dependence on other people is an irritant. Medical mobility equipment makers are aware of this and have now designed a range of mobility devices including motorized wheelchairs and electrical scooters to solve this problem. However, before deciding to buy a mobility aid it is always better to consult a physician.

It is advisable to seek a physician’s guidance while deciding on the type of models and version that you decide on buying. For instance if you are looking to use an aid to navigate short distances and most of it would be indoors a compact motorized wheelchair is a good choice. However, if you are the sort of person who is used to traveling long distances and frequently go outdoors than an electric or motorized scooter is better.

Most scooter manufacturers provide various options including luxury scooters, pavement scooters and portable scooters among others. Portable medical scooters are good for enhancing mobility giving the freedom to visit shops, friends and family without having to depend on others. Easy to use and with minimal maintenance costs these scooters provide an economical option to people with a tight budget.

As the name suggests, portable scooters are easy to maintain, can be disassembled and reassembled making it easy for a user to take it in a car anywhere they travel. However before buying always survey the market to check out the various models available and the price range so you can buy one that is within your budget yet feature rich as well. As these models are portable the scooters have a lightweight frame making it easy to transport. The design is such that they can be shifted easily in and out of the car boot. The scooter can be dismantled into pieces and you can separate the chair, front portion, rear wheels and battery, so that you can lift the rear section easily.

Before fixing on a scooter decide whether the scooter is for short duration travel or long distances. Other points to be considered include whether the scooter is for indoor or outdoor use. For indoor use, a compact scooter is more maneuverable but for the outdoors, a solid model is a better option. Storage is another important factor to take into account. If your house has a narrow entrance you may have to go for a fold-and-go portable scooter.
