The need for pediatric nebulizer mask

A nebulizer mask is used on the nose and mouth of the patient to enable them to inhale the medication from the nebulizer. This can be rightly called ‘patient interface equipment’. Young children suffering from asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis and other respiratory diseases find pediatric nebulizer mask of great help. This mask is specially used for patients who cannot administer the treatment all by themselves. A pediatric mask should fit comfortably around the baby’s face thereby enabling smooth inhalation of the medicine. The facemask manufacturers often come out with attractive designs and colors on the facemask making it pleasant for the child to undergo treatment.

Just like how all medical products require approval from medical organizations, so does pediatric nebulizer mask too requires proper approval to be sold in the market. Treating a child at home is a challenging task and requires lot of patience. The medical equipment used for treating the medical condition of the child should be kid friendly and at the same time portable too. Parents look for more value when it comes to pediatric masks and would prefer to change them quite often so that the kid is not bored using the same mask again and again. Learning the needs of the parents and the patients, pediatric facemask manufactures come up with attractive designs all the time.

Young patients need to use the nebulizer on a regular basis. We live in a polluted world and people with respiratory issues find the need to use corticosteroids regularly to control the ailment. Nebulizer is the only equipment through which these medications can be administered effectively. This is where the need for adult nebulizer mask arises, especially for people who find it difficult to use the nebulizer directly. Nebulizers with toys attached to it are common with kids nebulizer. Another major advantage of using a nebulizer mask is that it allows passive breathing, thereby ensuring that the treatment is on always. When inhalers fail nebulizers come handy as they help administer the full dosage of medicine to the patient.

A mask is generally made of rubber or clear vinyl that comes in different sizes to fit the patient’s face. They come with adjustable straps, so that the mask remains in its position when the treatment is going on. The child is made to sit in an upright position and the mask is fitted. The more perfect the fit of the mask the more effective will be the treatment. Colorful masks in the shape of dinosaur or fish or monkey can make the whole treatment a playful episode. Masks have to be maintained carefully to avoid any malfunctioning. Wash the mask with soap and water after each use. Allow it to dry properly. Use vinegar with water to clean the mask and other nebulizer parts. Vinegar acts as a disinfectant.
